Police Arrest And Charge Pastor Who Raped His Own Child

The police have arrested and charged the pastor of a New York City Baptist church with sexual abuse and rape of his own young daughter for over six years. The man identified as Matthew Gibson, who is the son of the bishop at the Progressive Baptist Church of Brownsville in Brooklyn, was arrested on Thursday and accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting his now 14-year-old daughter. The abuse according to reports has been on the church’s grounds since 2012 not long after the child’s mother died. ‘He should rot in hell,’ said the victim’s grandmother, Josephine Maples. ‘How can a father do this?’ The victim’s sister-in-law, Myia Maples, said the victim told her about the abuse last week, blurting it out in a moment of emotion. Maples and her husband now have full custody of the victim and her twin brother.  Photo Credit: Getty
