Raphael Varane Tests Positive For COVID-19, Set To Miss UCL Match Against Liverpool

Raphael Varane’s testing is coming after Real Madrid’s captain and leader Sergio Ramos has been ruled out for the next 2 weeks injured. This leaves the side in a dire situation as they face a major defence crisis ahead of their all crucial Champions League quarter-final game against Liverpool.

With the announcement of Varane testing positive and with Sergio Ramos still out injured, Zinedine Zidane is left with playing former Porto defender Eder Militao, Nacho Fernandez, as the only fit central back defenders that are available ahead of their game later today against a gradually regaining form Liverpool side.

The game which will be played at 9 pm WAT, the first leg will be against Liverpool in the Spanish capital at the Alfonso stadium, Tuesday, April 6th 2021.
