US Confirms Appointment Of Adewale Adeyemo As Deputy Secretary Treasurer

The United States Government has confirmed the appointment of Nigerian-American jurist Adewale Adeyemo as the Deputy Treasury Secretary.
The Wall Street Journal had reported that Adeyemo, who had previously been appointed as the President of the Obama Foundation in 2019, would work with Janet Yellen, as nominee for the position of Treasury Secretary.
Adewale Adeyemo had also served in the administration of former president Obama as deputy national security adviser (NSA) for international economics. He is also named to have helped the US combat the global economic recession of 2008 and now has made history as the first African-American to hold the DS Treasury position.

Taking to Twitter to congratulate him, US Mission in Nigeria tweeted, “Congratulations to Adewale Adeyemo on his confirmation as Deputy Treasury Secretary! He is the first African American to hold the position. The University of California and Yale alumnus was born in Ibadan, Oyo State and raised in Southern California. Kudos!”Photos Credit: Getty
