Update: Those Who Violate International Humanitarian Must Be Held Accountable- United Nations

The United Nation (UN) has condemned terrorist and extremist groups attacks that have weighed heavily on security forces and civilians especially in Borno state, Nigeria. António Guterres, Secretary of the UN, in a statement via his spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, extended his “heartfelt condolences to the government of Nigeria and to the families of those who have lost their life”. According to reports, there was a major attack carried out by the Boko Haram extremist group at a Nigerian military base in Metele, Borno State that led to the death of many soldiers lives. “Those who violate international humanitarian, human rights and refugee law must be held accountable,” Guterres added. “The United Nations stands in solidarity with the government of Nigeria in its fight against terrorism and violent extremism,” the UN Secretary affirmed.Photo Credit: Getty
