Twelve soldiers were killed last night when a league of gunmen stormed a military base in Birnin Gwari LGA, Kaduna state.
According to The Cable, the soldiers were among the troops deployed to the area to protect the foreigners working on a new road linking Zamfara and Kaduna states through Dansadau-Dangulbi and Birnin Gwari.
The foreigners who just recently returned to the state to complete the project after fleeing when one of them was abducted last year, have been unsettled once again by the fresh attack.
An anonymous source confirmed the story to the cable, claiming that the attackers killed three soldiers in a hole and nine others elsewhere in the base.
