Unknown Gunmen Attack INEC Secretariat And Police Station In Anambra

Another of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) attacked, this time its the INEC office in Akwa, Anambra State, along with the B Division of the Nigeria Police Divisional Station that was attacked Sunday night, May 23, the assailants are yet to be identified.  INEC in Anambra State Police Station razed

According to reports and amateur videos by the witness of the incidents posted online, the armed men attacked the INEC offices in three Hilux trucks first attacked the B Division Police station, shooting sporadically for over an hour before heading to the INEC offices.

It is however not clear if there was massive destruction at the government facilities or killing of any public officer. But its should be noted that this is 22 INEC office attacked, destroyed, razed by arsonist across the Southern region of the country in the last 3-months.

The spokesperson of the state police command, Tochukwu Ikenga, while confirming the incident, said details are still sketchy and that he would release a statement as soon as he gets full details.

Government facilities including INEC offices and police stations have been attacked by unknown gunmen in recent times.
