PDP Accuses APC Of Planning To Hack INEC Server, BVAS
The Director-General (DG) of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal yesterday alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has a plan to rig the forthcoming general election by hacking into the Independent National Electoral Commission’s server to manipulate the results to favor its candidate.

The Sokoto State governor also alleged that the ruling party has brought in hackers to hack into the electronic device that authenticates the identity of prospective voters, the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), saying the plan will not work.

Tambuwal made the allegations during the PDP presidential campaign rally held at the Sani Abacha Stadium, in Kano.
“We shall not accept any attempt by anybody to manipulate the electoral process. We are aware they have brought in hackers to hack the BVAS and to hack the INEC cybers. We will not let them.”

Tambuwal also alleged that the APC has stockpiled huge money with the purpose of buying votes on election day.
“They (APC) are planning to bring in money -the old and new notes; in fact, they are planning to also use the fake currency to deceive you on election day. Reject it. It is your money, which they should have used to provide security, infrastructure, employment and provided an enabling environment for businesses to grow, they stashed it so they will come and buy your votes. I am sure Kano people are very conscious and politically not unaware of this and will reject their money.”

In a swift reaction, the APC dismissed the PDP claim as lies. Its National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Felix Morka said that the allegation was nothing but a fabrication from a demented mind.
Morka noted in a telephone interview that with the electoral credentials and progress recorded by the INEC under the leadership of the APC in the last 8 years, it will unthinkable for anybody to accuse APC of planning to hack into INEC cyber.
“This is nothing but a pack of lies from a disillusioned party. Having been faced with impending defeat, PDP has to resort into lying and this is a venture that can not earn them victory at the polls. Twice Nigerians rejected them and they are about to face another round of electoral humiliation at the polls.”
“No amount of lies can win them the sympathy of Nigerians. It is on record that the conduct of elections by INEC under an APC-led administration have been adjudged free and fair. President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to leave a legacy of a free and fair electoral process and we are committed to ensuring that.”
