Tiwa Savage Opens Up On Attempting To Commit Suicide Twice

Afrobeat queen and one of a kind songstress, Tiwa Savage in a recent interview with ace host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu reflects back on being a victim of racism while she was a kid during when she lived abroad, saying she wanted to commit suicide twice as a kid.

The Mother of one revealed this while on the Black Box interview on Bounce Live Radio, with BBNaija’s Ebuka.

According to the singer, she had attempted to take her life due to the bullying she encountered in high school as a child. Tiwa Savage

Tiwa Savage revealed, she was a black kid in a relatively white-dominated school and received a lot of bullying due to her strong Nigerian accent as a black kid in London.

In her words:
“I was teased so bad. They used to call me ‘African girl’, ‘Foo foo’, ‘Your food smells’ and so on. It was terrible. It was so bad that I literally tried to kill myself two times. I was really depressed.”
