Success Stories Of Previous Winners Of The Big Brother Naija Show

Contestants live in an isolated house and compete for a large cash prize and other material prizes by avoiding being evicted from the house by viewers votes, so to stay in the house they have to always have content to give the viewers. The winner emerges on the last day of the show and their lives are changed forever as they are exposed to a world of opportunities, money, fame, Glitz and glam.

The previous winners of the show have gone on to make their dreams reality all thanks to the platform and opportunity the show provides they have all now become household names in their chosen fields.Let’s take a look at past winners and where they are now.

1. Season 1 (2006) – Katung Aduwak

He emerged the winner of the maiden edition of the Big Brother Nigeria reality TV show in 2006 and went home with $100,000. After the show, he bagged a directorial degree from the Digital Film Academy in New York. He is a filmmaker and producer. He directed and produced “Unwanted guest” and “Heaven’s Hell.” Katung has also directed a number of music videos for Chocolate City, Styl Plus, Gabriel Afolayan and starred in EbonyLife TV’s “Desperate housewives.”

Aduwak was once a media panelist at the Harvard Africa Business School Forum and served for many years as Senior Channel Manager at MTV Base. He was also Senior Creative Director at VIACOM International, Executive Director at Chocolate City and is currently the CEO of One O Eight Media and African Partner for Campfire Media.

2. Season 2 (2017) – Michael Efe Ejeba

Big Brother Naija show took an 11-year break to revamp itself after a successful first season and came back with an extra fire for a season 2 with the theme “See Gobe”. At the end of 90 days singer, rapper Efe emerged the winner and went home with the sum of N25 million cash prize and an automobile valued at a N5million. Following his emergence as winner of the show, he moved from Jos to Lagos in order to kick-start his music career.
He released a single titled “Based On Logistics” which was a famous line he was known for saying while in the house. The rapper released an EP called “Lagos EP.” He also collaborated with superstar rapper Olamide on the song “Warri.” He is still taking his place in the music business.

3. Season 3 (2018) Miracle Igbokwe

The show returned for a 3rd season with the theme Double Wahala and it saw Pilot Miracle emerge as the winner. He found love in the eyes of the viewers because of his constant love for aviation and how he was passionate about his dreams. He was presented with a brand new Hyundai Tucson SUV, a N25 million cheque, home appliances worth N3 million, and a trip to an exotic location for two to total N45 million worth of prizes.

After winning the show, he left for South Africa to an Aviation school to pursue his dreams. In 2019, Miracle obtained his certification as an “Instrument Rated” pilot. The 2018 winner has retreated from all social media activity and has gone ahead on to chase his aviation dreams.

4. Season 4 (2019) – Mercy Eke

She made history with her win by emerging as the first-ever female winner of the Big Brother Naija show after she won the hearts of millions of viewers with her bubbling and amazing personality. The Queen of Highlights as she calls herself brought premium entertainment to our TV screens and was a delight to watch for 90 days. She took away a total of N60 million, including N30 million cash, an Innoson Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) worth N25 million, a trip to Dubai and other prizes.

The reality star went on to have her own reality show after her win named “Mercy And Ike” which featured her fellow housemate and love interest at the time Ike Onyema. She also launched her own real estate company, Lambo Homes, a clothing line MM luxury, and a foundation called the Mercy Eke Foundation that caters for the less privileged in society.

5. Season 5 (2020) Olamilekan Agbeleshebioba (LAYCON)

He was the least expected to win because of his size and the backlash he received on social media from the first day of the show but on the day of the finals, the hip-hop rapper star emerged winner shattering the voting records of the show with his strong fan base the icons. He went home with N30m cash prize, a two-bedroom apartment, a Dubai trip for two, SUV from Innoson Motors, a trip to Dublin, a trip to watch the UEFA Champions League finale.

He has launched his own reality television show on Showmax titled ‘I Am Laycon’. The reality show sheds light on his life. Laycon was honoured by his state Governor, Dapo Abiodun, as a Youth Ambassador. He was also given a sum of N5m and a house. After his Iconic win, he released an Album “Shall We Begin” which has gathered over 20 million streams and counting.

Season 6 of the Big Brother Naija show kicked off on the 24th of July,2021 and fans are super excited to see another housemate emerge as winner and begin their life-changing experience.
