BREAKING: Scores Feared Dead, Others Trapped As Storey Building Collapses In Abuja

Unspecified number of persons have been reportedly killed following the collapse of a multi-storey building in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.

KOKO TV NG gathered that the incident occurred on Wednesday night due to heavy downpour.

The building is located at the ever-busy Lagos Street, Garki village, Garki II district of Abuja.

Details of the incident are still sketchy as at press time. However, Ikharo Attah, a former aide to the immediate past Minister of the FCT, who confirmed the development in a post on his Facebook page, said rescue operation is currently ongoing.

He confirmed that at least seven persons have so far been rescued and evacuated to hospital, while others are still trapped.

In other news, One person has been confirmed dead, while three others have been declared missing following the collapse of a majestic rig in Delta State on Tuesday, August 15.

The swamp drilling rig, operated by a Nigerian oil firm, Depthwize and contracted by the Seplat/Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited joint venture, collapsed in the early hours of Tuesday.

The rig was reportedly in transit to its planned drilling location at Ovhor in Delta State when it collapsed.
