Rivers State Govt Bans All Types Of Igbo Group Meetings In Oyigbo

The Rivers State Government has banned any type of planned meeting by some Igbo residents in Oyigbo Local Government Area of the state which has been marred by violence for a while now. Rivers State

This new policy was made public in a statement released by the Rivers State’s commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim, who announced that a ban had been placed on the United Igbo Community meetings scheduled to hold at Oyigbo on Saturday, April 10, 2021, he said the decision was imperative because such a meeting could spark fresh unrest in the area.

Nsirim said the government has directed security agencies “to ensure that the said meeting does not hold to forestall a breakdown of law and order in the area”.
