Keeping up with fame in a country like Nigeria is very expensive, bars, resort centres and lounges are no child’s play, Range Rovers, exotic trips to Dubai, skiing in Aspen, drinking Baltida De Coco in Brazil are all on the high side, but at what cost?
It is no longer news that the EFCC recently seized Nengi’s Range Roger, majorly over dirty money. Even though the Big Brother Naija star claimed she got the car by herself, sources revealed that a popular ponzi scheme scammer got her the SUV.
The internet was thrown into a frenzy last year when Nigeria’s anti graft commission arrested Instagram ‘big boy’, Ismaila Mustapha, popularly known as Mompha, over money laundering allegations.
Dubai police and the Interpol also arrested Raymond Abass, alias Hushpuppi over a heap of allegations, like fraud, internet scam, phishing, email scam and other criminal activities.

Social media platforms, especially Instagram and Twitter are full of ‘Skit makers’ who acquired little fame and boom, they are showing off their new apartments in Lekki, their new Benz and consistently flooding the internet with their Dubai and Santorini pictures.
These desperation to ‘belong’, acquire internet fame and popularity, is keeping people on the edge, and more Nigerians are living fake lives, just to keep up with the life they cannot maintain.
