NCDC Celebrates Expansion Of Testing Labs To 13 In Nigeria

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control has celebrated the expansion of the Coronavirus testing labs in Nigeria from 6 to 13 in just three weeks.
On the 29th of March, the centre announced that the total number of testing laboratories in the nation are 6 altogether, adding that testing centres in Abakaliki, Maiduguri, Kano, Sokoto, Port-Harcourt, Jos and Kaduna were under construction.
In a statement given via its official Twitter handle as at 9pm, the NCDC noted that the 7 labs under construction have successfully been completed, bringing the nation to 13 labs.

“Seventeen days ago,we set a target to scale up #COVID19 testing capacity from 6 to 13 labs in 3 weeks Today,we announced the inclusion of the 12th & 13th labs, with plans for further expansion Our lab strategy set to be published has more details on how we‘re scaling up testing. As we increase the number of labs, we are working very hard with states to improve the sample collection and transportation process. Our goal is to ensure that everyone who meets the national case definition is tested, positive cases are isolated and managed to recovery“, the tweet reads.
