Daunte Wright’s mother, Katie has reacted to the death of her 20-year-old son, saying her heart had been broken in a thousand pieces.
Recall that a Brooklyn Police officer identified as Kim Potter had allegedly shot the young father of one, and the Police reported that it was an accident as she mistook the gun for a taser.
Reacting to the death of his son, Katie said, “My heart has been broken in a thousand pieces… I miss him so much. He was my life, he was my son and I can never get that back because of a mistake? Because of an accident?”, BBC said she said on Monday.

She reportedly revealed that Daunte Wright had called her during the traffic stop. “He said he had been pulled over because air fresheners hanging from his rear-view mirror”, she reportedly said. She said she then heard scuffling and the phone line was cut. “A minute later, I called and his girlfriend answered, who was the passenger in the car, and said that he’d been shot… and my son was laying there lifeless”, she reportedly added.
Following Daunte Wright’s death, protests have burst open in the State and on social media again, bringing back the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter, and a curfew has been declared. Read also: Black Lives Matter Resurfaces As Police Kill 27 Year Old In Dublin
Crowds, however, defied the curfew to gather for a second night outside Brooklyn Center Police headquarters. Witnesses said some threw fireworks and bottles at officers who responded with tear gas and stun grenades. Watch below:
