Imo Police Officer Faces Trial For Extortion Of N350,000
Imo Police Commissioner Mohammed Ahmed Barde has said an officer who allegedly extorted N350, 000 from a resident is facing trial.
Fielding questions, in an Owerri-based radio programme, People’s Assembly, the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Henry Okoye, disclosed that the CP ordered their dismissal and orderly room trial because of their involvement in the crimes.
Also, 80 suspected criminals, who committed various offences ranging from conspiracy, armed robbery, murder and rape have been arrested by operatives of the command.

He added that those facing trial would be sanctioned according to the outcome and gravity of their offences.
In other news, The acting Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has issued a directive ordering all police convoys to henceforth, as a matter of compulsion, obey all traffic regulations.
The IG gave the directive Monday during his meeting with the Mobile Police Squadron and commanders at the Force headquarters in Abuja.

According to him, the Force must lead by example if it is to command the respect of the general public. He therefore pledged to lead by example, promising to also observe all traffic regulations.
