England To Host European Women Championships In 2021- UEFA

According to a meeting held by the UEFA’s Executive Committee in Dublin, on Monday, December 3, England will be hosting the women’s European Championships in 2021. Wembley has been singled out to host the final of the tournament with Brighton, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Peterborough, Rotherham and Sheffield the other proposed host cities. In a statement issued by the Football Association’s chief executive Martin Glenn, he said that: “Bringing Euro 2021 to England will be a tremendous opportunity to celebrate women’s football and will allow us to amplify our significant commitment to growing the game,”.  He further added that “We cannot underestimate the positive impact this tournament will have on inspiring the next generation,”. It is pertinent to point out that England have never won a major international trophy in the women’s game, but are likely to face France in the next World Cup next under the tutelage of former England men’s international, Phil Neville.Photo Credit: Getty
