Court Sends Sowore Back To DSS Custody As He Describes New Charges As Ridiculous

The Federal Court High Court in Abuja on Thursday ordered the remand of the convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Mr.Omoyele Sowore, and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare, in the custody of the Department of State Security Service (DSS), pending the hearing of their bail application.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu fixed Friday for the hearing of their bail application. Sowore was arraigned on seven counts of treasonable felony and other sundry offences. They pleaded not guilty to the seven counts when read to them. Sowore, who was the 2019 Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, however described the new charges as “ridiculous.”

The Federal Government had re-arraigned Sowore on a seven-count charge bordering on treasonable felony and terrorism. Sowore, who was re-arraigned before Justice Justice Ijeoma said: “We are in court, of course to attend to their ridiculous charges and we are ready for them.”

This is coming one week after Justice Taiwo Taiwo ordered the release of Mr Sowore after a detention order the judge issued against him elapsed.
