Christ Embassy Fined N14million For Holding Illegal Service
A Christ Embassy church has had its Pastor and 30 members of the congregation fined the whooping sum of $35,000, which amounts about N14million for holding illegal church service in New South Wales, Australia.
The clergy, a Nigerian, Pastor Marvin Osaghae, who heads the Christ Embassy Sydney church was said to have been slammed the fine on Sunday, 22nd August, hours after he led a prayer for an end to lockdown with the congregation.
As reported by the Sydney Morning Herald, about 60 people, including children, who travelled from COVID-19 hotspot suburbs, attended the church gathering, despite the lockdown. The clergy was also said to have declared to the congregation that lockdown in over.

The media confirmed that 30 adults were each fined $1000 (#411,550) for failing to comply with a COVID-19 direction, while the Christ Embassy church itself was fined $5000 (2,057,750) for “a gathering held in a defiance of a lockdown aimed at preventing more deaths and reining in the more than 800 new cases NSW is recording each day”.
