Celebrities That Have Said They Don’t Want Children

The 21st century has made room for a lot of adjustments and delegating of some societal stereotypes to the background. Before, the thought of marriage and having children were of huge significance reasons for people being alive. But now modernization in not just technology, but the mindset and societal norm has changed the game.
As shocking as it might seem, there are some people who have made it clear that they do not want to have children. These might be due to personal, societal or even medical reasons, but they all share the ‘not wanting children’ phrase and made it public. Sharing in such mentality are some Nigerian celebrities.
Some Nigerian celebrities have made it clear that they do not want to have children. For some it is painful news, but for others, it is a bold and conscious decision. So here are some Nigerian celebrities who have publicly said they don’t want children;
1. Monalisa Stephen
Actress, and pluz size model, Monalisa Stephen is one celebrity who has made it clear that she doesn’t want to have children. The actress made it known that her decision is not because she is infertile or has any emotional or relationship issues. Monalisa stated that she lost her father when she was one. She is in her 20s now and when she lost her mother, a few years ago and she is still recovering from it. So the actress who is an advocate for body positivity, stated that she knows how it feels to not have both parents. She also stated that she wants to challenge the misogynistic ideology in today’s society by not wanting kids. Monalisa Stephen pointed out that she is happy to be in a relationship with a man, who will not coerce her into marriage or having children.

2. Rita Dominic
Ace Nollywood actress, Rita Dominic once stated that she will not be pressured into having kids and getting married. The actress who came into limelight when she acted in her first movie in the mid-90s is still very much relevant. Over 45 and she is still killing it in the slay and fashion department, Rita stated that she has kids she loves who are not her biological children. But she is not thinking of kids until marriage and marriage will come when she feels she has gotten it right.

3. Nse Ikpe-Etim
Award-winning Nollywood actress cum movie producer, Nse Ikpe-Etim made it clear some years ago that she won’t be having kids in this lifetime. While some celebrities say this because they just don’t want to, Nse says this because she just can’t. The talented actress revealed that in 2016 she removed her womb because she was diagnosed with Adenomyosis, a condition whereby the inner lining of the uterus breaks through the muscle wall of the uterus. She stated that she had to have a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) to have a life again and to stop going through health issues that she was going through. It is a joy to know that her husband stood by her and is still standing by her.

4. Angel
Big Brother Naija Shine Ya Eye star, Angel is one reality TV star who has stated that she doesn’t want kids. The controversial star known for exposing her body, has been quite outspoken, about the not wanting kids situation. She disclosed this to a fellow housemate. Remember Angel revealed that she dropped out of school twice and was depressed at 14. The BBnaija star has stated that mental health is very important and so she is not ready for kids or marriage because there are a lot of things she needs to heal from.

5. Ebube Nwagbo
Nollywood actress, Ebube Nwagbo is a talented actress that drops jaws whenever she steps on the big screen. The Anambra-born actress stated that when it comes to marriage she is not ready, talk less of having kids. Ebube stated that she is scared of marriage because of the high rate of divorce in the entertainment industry.

6. Olu Micheal
47-year-old Nollywood actor, Olu Micheal has revealed that he doesn’t intend to get married or have kids. The actor explained that though his parents have been pushing him to take the leap, but has debunked all pressure he will not be doing so. He further pointed out that he is scared of marriage, and he feels at his age it is already too late to have children. So he won’t be having them at all. Olu Micheal revealed that while he was younger he desired to have kids, but now that he is older, it is already too late. Moreover, he pointed out that he is a workaholic and he doesn’t want a case where by his children will suffer for it.

7. Temmie Ovwasa
Nigerian lesbian singer and songwriter, Temmie Ovwasa time and time again has always pointed out that she does not want children. Temmie who is an advocate for homosexuals stated that she doesn’t want children, because of her heterophobia. She is scared of going through the stress of getting a sperm donor, then having a child only for the child to turn out to be heterosexual. The controversial singer said that she can’t have an heterosexual child in her house. Hence she is not interested in having children.
8. Bimbo Akintola
Nollywood veteran actresses, Bimbo Akintola, though amazing on the big screen, she is definitely not one who has embraced the thoughts of having kids anytime soon. Bimbo who comes from a family of six stated that she can’t imagine herself raising up to six children. She made it clear that her mother who did that is definitely a super woman. The 51-year-old actress has never been married and she has no biological children of her own. Not once has she hinted in toeing that line.
