Toor! Bobi Wine Charged For Intending To Annoy President
37-year-old Ugandan singer, actor and philanthropist, Bobi Wine has been charged with an offence of intending to annoy the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, being an addition to a previous charge of treason.
The singer-cum politician and businessman, born Robert Kyagulanyi was alleged, together with his colleagues, to have thrown stones at the presidential convoy during an election rally in the northern town of Arua in 2018.
Bobi Wine is also currently facing charges in another court, for staging a protest against a law that imposed a tax on mobile money transactions and use of social media in 2018. The musician, who has become an opposition force against President Yoweri Museveni’s three-decade rule, recently announced that he will stand for president in the 2021 election.

However, he and his colleagues are still being tried in court, if convicted, they may be sentenced to life in prison. While in detention, they claimed to have been tortured badly, which was denied by the authorities.
