Seun Kuti has revealed that his new album, “Black Times,” is a reflection of his political and social beliefs.

The new album by Seun Kuti features award-winning Mexican-American guitarist – Carlos Santana, Yasiin Bey and Nai Palm who abandoned her – Hiatus Kaiyote – on her solo debut in 2017.

Seun unveiled “Black Times,” which is his 5th studio album at a private listening party on Thursday, at the Fela Museum in Ikea, Lagos.
“Black Times is a true reflection of my political and social beliefs,” said The Afrobeat singer. “It is also dear to my heart because for the first time ever I wanted to own my masters, so I personally invested my funds in it. That gave me the opportunity to say the things I wanted to say.”
In January 2012, Suen Kuti – the youngest son of Fela – participated actively in the Occupy Nigeria protests against fuel subsidy removal policy of President Goodluck Jonathan in Nigeria. He is famous for leading his father, Fela’s former band Egypt 80.
“More than ever I am convinced of the mission and purpose of our music,” said Seun, adding that “here I’m giving honour to my parents and to every revolutionary who has made a difference, many of them from before I was born.”
