Anger As 3-year-old Nigerian Girl Arrested In Bangladesh

A 3-year-old Nigerian preschooler, as well as three others have been arrested and detained in Sylhet, Bangladesh, over illegal migration. All of them have been accused of illegally entering Bangladesh from India.

They were apprehended near the Tamabil land port on Thursday morning, July 8. This is after an intelligence report was established on their movement. The detainees have been identified as Emmanuel Nnamdi Ohagwam, 42; his 3-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Favour Osinachi Ohagwam; and Paul Ebeodi Okechukwu, 27.

The items found on them include a laptop; nine mobile phone handsets; three passports; a driver’s licence; an Indian Aadhaar card; also, Nigerian NID card; as well as $1,600, and $280 in cash.

They were later to the Gowainghat police station. Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Gowainghat police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Parimal Dev said that Nigerian nationals “are now being questioned.”

Meanwhile, Border Guard Bangladesh, BGB had on June 29; also detained a 31-year-old Nigerian national named Onyebuchukwu Stanley Egwu in Sylhet for allegedly sneaking into Bangladesh from India through the Tamabil land port.
