32 More Bethel Baptist Students Regain Freedom

The bandits who abducted over 100 female students of Bethel Baptist High School in Damishi, Kaduna State have freed 32 more of the remaining 63 abducted students in their den. This brings the number of total freed students to 90, remaining 31 with the captors.

Recall that the bandits had on the 5th of July 2021, invaded the school in the early hours of the morning and made away with 121 students. 28 of the students were released on the 25th of July after the parents reportedly paid the whooping sum of N100 million as ransom. 15 more students were released last week and now, 32 more are said to have been freed.

The Chairman of the Kaduna state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Joseph Hayab, who confirmed the students’ release to newsmen, said they were released on Friday, August 27, and have since been reunited with their parents.

Although the Kaduna State Government and police authorities are yet to confirm the development, a top official of Bethel Baptist School also reportedly confirmed to Channels Television that the students regained their freedom on Friday.
