UEFA Champions League Review: Liverpool Demolish Maribor In 7-0 Thriller

After making a statement in their last league game, Liverpool restablished their fear factor on Tuesday night with a 7-0 flawless victory over Maribor in their Champions League Group E match.The Reds set a new club record with their away win in Europe in a night their opponents will hope to forget soon. They scored: the first goal 4-minutes after kickoff, three goals in the first 20 minutes, four before half-time, and three more in the second half as they suddenly decided to adopt Manchester City’s, deadly form against foreign counterparts. The win skyrocketed Liverpool from third to First position in their Group E standing.
In his post-match conference, Liverpool coach, Jurgen Klopp said “I was told about the record after the game and I didn’t know about it, The wonderful history of this club can feel like a back-pack at times so it is nice to write our own good piece of the history. It will be difficult to beat that record. “It is quite rare to win 7-0 but it showed we did unbelievably well. The boys deserved that, and we really kept on going.”
Roberto Firmino opened the goal-fest with a sublime finisher 4-minutes after kickoff. The Brazil international scored a brace 50-minutes later in a match he will surely remember for good.
Mohammed Salah spearheaded the demolison job with his swift and ruthless attacking might. The Egytpian forced the Slovenians into ultimate submission as he found the net twice in one of his best performances since his summer move from Roma.
Alex Oxlade Chamberlain grabbed his debut goal in the goal rush as Phillipe Coutinho and Trent Arnold also found the net for the Reds.
