Iniubong Umoren, Uduak and Frank Akpan
  1. Iniubong-Umoren-Uduak-Frank-AkpanAs the previous week was going to an end, giving way for a fresh new week, civil servants and so many other workers refused to return to work, lavishing in the spirit of Eid-Al-Fitri. Recall that the FG had declared Wednesday and Thursday public holiday for the celebration, following the 30 days Ramadan fast. The moon, however, did not surface as expected and the fast continued till Wednesday, giving the perception that the holiday will then be the following day and the next. While some sect of Muslims observed their Eid on Wednesday, defying the non-appearance of the moon, some others had theirs on Thursday. Come Friday, reports filled the air of many workers found absent without leave. What a confused way to end the week.Uduak Akpan's Woes, Iniubong Buried, Asisat Oshoala's History-Making And 8 Other Top Events Of The Weekend
  2. It is no longer a news that social media has become a weapon in the hands of Nigerian youths, many of whom, however, do not and will not participate in physical change making processes. This has gotten the Chairman of Nigeria’s Governors’ Forum and Governor of Ekiti State Dr Kayode Fayemi to call on the youths to take their involvement in politics beyond social media and get involved in politics that will connect them with the people if they really want to get serious about effecting changes in the country’s current political landscape. Fayemi said this in the goodwill message he delivered in Ibadan on Friday at the National Security and Peace symposium to mark the 45th birthday of a member of the House of Representatives, representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola Federal Constituency, Shina Peller.
  3. The suspected killer of Nigeria’s fresh graduate, Iniubong Umoren seemingly became more unfortunate as receipts and testimonials of him inviting some other ladies for job interview began to surface. About 3 females, who accredit their inability to attend the interview and take the popular Secretary-in-a-farm-job the suspect has been offering to God saving them, came out on social media to give their accounts, showing screenshots. One of the females is the named Blessing Godwin in David Hundeyin’s investigative report on the case.Uduak Akpan's Woes, Iniubong Buried, Asisat Oshoala's History-Making And 8 Other Top Events Of The Weekend
  4. Meanwhile, the Akwa Ibom Police allowed the suspect a press conference where he gave a public account of what transpired between him and Iniubong. According to him, he told her the Secretary job is at a hard drug dealing farm and she agreed, saying she was in dire need of a job. On getting to him, he said, he opened up to her that he lied about the job and would want them to have sex. Again, he said, she agreed but on a condition that he used condom. She, however, got furious in the middle of the ride when he pulled the condom and hit her with a stabiliser. This, according to him, made him retaliate. Insisting the suite doesn’t belong to her, the couple demanded that the journalist do a retraction of his statement about them or risk a legal suit. David Hundeyin, however, rather admonished them to in the stead of threatening and sending the Police to him, the couple should authorise MTN and Airtel network providers to release the voice note of one of the calls the suspect made. Showing he is not afraid of their suit, David Hundeyin asked them to be free to sue him.Uduak Akpan's Woes, Iniubong Buried, Asisat Oshoala's History-Making And 8 Other Top Events Of The Weekend
  6. While Baba Ijesha’s case lingers, with a law suit from actress Iyabo Ojo to her colleague Yomi Fabiyi, who held a protest demanding the release of his alleged molester colleague, the KOKO Weekly Magazine addressed the Sexual Assault on the terms of Culture (the society) and the effects of assault and molestation on victims. The edition believes the society should be a voice for the abuse and rather than shun them, should do better standing for and with them for good justice. The magazine also examines the rate at which sexual assault goes down in Nigeria, the low report rate and what could cause it, as well as the effects of assaults on the victims, opining that though the pain from the experience wanes, the memory will forever linger. We hope an assault or say vices-free society emerges in Nigeria and in the world at large.
