Recall that the FG had declared Wednesday and Thursday public holidayfor the celebration, following the 30 days Ramadan fast. The moon, however, did not surface as expected and the fast continued till Wednesday, giving the perception that the holiday will then be the following day and the next. While some sect of Muslims observed their Eid on Wednesday, defying the non-appearance of the moon, some others had theirs on Thursday. Come Friday, reports filled the air of many workers found absent without leave. What a confused way to end the week.

Popular philanthropist Ned Nwoko, whose fame grew bigger with the news of his marriage to young actress Regina Daniels was not spared some piece of dragging over the weekend. Former beauty queen Pamela Ifejoku, had in a viral video on her Twitter page accused Nwoko of putting her father in jail for 5 years. With the hashtag #freeOkeyIfejoku she initiated over the detention of his father, Okey Ifejoku and 9 other community leaders of Idumeje Ugboko village in Delta state for years (since 2017), as a result of the community resisting his land grabbing business, Pamela alleged that Ned Nwoko further caused her mother to spend her birthday in prison. Reacting, Nigerians on Twitter including former presidential aspirant and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, accused Nwoko of using his influence to oppress and intimidate the masses.

Nigerian striker, Asisat Oshoala became the first Nigerian and African female player to win the UEFA Women’s Champions League, after helping Barcelona defeat Chelsea in the final on Sunday night, May 16. 26-year-old Oshoala, was introduced in the 71st minute in the Barcelona-Chelsea match in the final of the 2020-21 edition as Barcelona needed more goals. Introduced in the space of Spanish midfielder Jennifer Hermoso, Oshoala scored a fifth goal in the closing stages of the game, but it was ruled offside.
