Uber Driver Attempts Suicide In Lagos Over N90,000 Debt

An Uber driver, Hammed Olojo, has reportedly been prevented from jumping off Third Mainland Bridge on Sunday afternoon. Olojo was restrained by men of the Rapid Response Squad attached to the bridge who monitored him before rushing in to prevent him from jumping.

He reportedly arrived the bridge and wrote a letter before attempting to jump into the water. Upon questioning, he revealed that he owed the Ikeja High Court N10,000 and the owner of the car N80,000. He added that he tried his best to pay back the debt but hasn’t had any luck doing so. Olojo also said he was also having problems surviving, and that he made his intentions known to his wife who advised him not to go ahead but that he was fed up of everything and wanted to end his life.
