PSG do not want to sell Neymar this summer despite interest from Barcelona , according to reports in France.
Speculation has linked the 27-year-old with a shock return to his old side just two years after he made the record-breaking move to Paris. Neymar switched the Nou Camp for the Parc des Princes in 2017 for an eye-watering £198 million fee.
But French publication Telefoot that PSG are reluctant to let their star man leave the club. There were suggestions previously that the French champions were happy to cash in on Neymar, after comments from the club’s president Al-Khelaifi.
He told France Football that the club would no longer tolerate “superstar behaviour”. In the same interview, the PSG president also openly questioned the attitude of Neymar, saying: “I want players willing to give everything to defend the honour of the jersey and join the club project. Those who do not want to, or do not understand, we see each other and talk about it. Of course there are contracts that must be respected, but now the priority is the total members of the project. Nobody forced him to sign here, nobody pushed him in. He came knowingly to join a project.”
But it appears PSG have performed a u-turn over any prospective deal and are now unwilling to enter discussions with Barcelona, or any other interested parties. That could cause issues with Neymar and his camp, with reports in Spain stating he is prepared to strike if he does not get his way. Neymar is said to have already agreed terms in principle with Barca chiefs, including taking a pay cut to secure a move back to his former employers.
Real Madrid were also interested in signing Neymar, but are since believed to have cooled their interest as they step up their pursuit of his PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe.
