Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has again been mudded and tagged as a puppet, as reports say he was not aware of the decision of the President and the Presidency to ban Twitter operations in Nigeria.

In an article by Daily Beast’s
Philip Obaji Jr., the media was officially exclusively told that President Buhari was embarrassed by the measure Twitter took on his tweet and his response was to impose a country-wide blackout of the social media app. “‘Anger’ is the word used by those close to the Nigerian president in describing how the leader felt on Friday, when his aides informed him that Facebook had followed Twitter by deleting a post he made on both platforms”, an official in the President’s office reportedly told The Daily Beast privately.

He was furious and wanted to deal with both Twitter and Facebook. The action [the social media companies] took was embarrassing to the President”, it added.
The media further reported that the President did not consult too many people, and overlooking Vice President Osinbajo, he ordered the Ministry of Information and Culture to indefinitely suspend the social media platform’s operations in the country because of the persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.Twitter Ban: Osinbajo Was Not Aware Of The Ban - ReportsThe Daily Beast said it further learnt that while the president initially wanted to shut down both platforms—he allegedly succumbed to pressure from his closest aides not to immediately target Facebook offender so that it isn’t blatantly obvious that he was acting in response to the deleted posts.
