Travel: The Many Thrills Of The Elegushi Beach

If you have been in Lagos for a while or even visiting for the first time and you have gotten round to asking people where to go for fun, we are pretty sure Elegushi Beach must have been mentioned a couple of times. Considered to be the busiest beach in Lagos, Elegushi is located in the Ikate area of Lekki on Lagos Island. The expansive seashore plays host to people from various walks of life, hence the need for some amount of caution when hanging out here. It is a private beach and for this reason a token is charged as entrance fee. Elegushi is open round the clock but the highest flock of visitors are seen during the weekends.
To avoid the rush, visiting earlier in the day is advisable although the teeming crowd ensures that you meet people and get to socialise if you so choose. Another thing to note is that Elegishi is not your regular bikini strewn-beach so, covering up is a better alternative when visiting. Morning visits are recommended if you are the type that enjoys watching the rising sun, reading, beach-side exercise and maybe just lounging and listening to the sound of the sea.

Afternoons are best if you plan to have a picnic, take your kids along or spend an afternoon of fun with friends playing some beach-side games. Night-time though is when the turn-out is usually unimaginable as hundreds of people visit for the night-life.You could attend one of the many parties going on in the various bars that litter the beach or feast on some of the delicacies available for sales or even take a stroll along the beach while admiring how the moon-light plays across the waters.
