Travel: 5 Strange Places In Africa

As beautiful as the continent of Africa is, there are still a number of places that will leave you shocked and perhaps, a little terrified.

AfricaThe Dark continent, as it is referred to by Europeans is a  maze of very weird places that have amazed geologists and other scientists over the years.

For our Travel this week, we bring you 5 of the most strangest places in this country of ours.

1. Underwater Waterfall, MauritiusIf you search online, you’ll find a number of stunning aerial shots of this very strange place, hidden away in the Southeast coast of Africa. The impression that there is an underwater waterfall is due to the sand and silt deposits.

2. Sahara El Beyda, EgyptAlso referred to as the White desert, it used to be a sea-bed aeons again, however, scientists, tell us that the water slowly dropped. What is left are the huge chalk pieces of rock.

3. Eye of AfricaAlso known as the Richat Structure, it is a strange blue circle of sands located in the Sahara Desert.

Scientists are still at a loss as to what is responsible for this landmark. Not to be deterred, there are a number of conspiracy theories about this strange location.

4. Outdoor Abandoned Cinema, EgyptAccording to reports, the theatre was constructed by a man from France to serve the locals, however, they were not pleased with the idea and so destroyed the creation. No movie was ever shown here.

What remains are rows of seats set for an outdoor cinema, which constantly leaves visitors surprised.

5. Under Sea, Manta Resort, ZanzibarIf you love the aquatic world, then you’re down for an experience at this hotel. Below the water level downstairs, there is a lucid view of a wide array of fishes and other water animals.Photo Credit: Getty
