Travel: 3 Items You Should Have When Traveling By Road In Nigeria

A few days ago, reports flooded social media about an incident where a customs officer unlawfully killed an innocent civilian over a N5000 bribe. While Nigerians are still angered by the situation, here are three items, you must have to avoid being in a similar position.
1. A Means Of Identification: This doesn’t only apply to traveling between states but also when you are moving out of your house. One of the ways to avoid being harassed by authorities is by carrying a means of identification (I.D card), this is very important as it is the first thing they ask when you are stopped, and if you are traveling with your personal vehicle make sure you have all the papers which show the vehicle is yours.
2. The Receipt Of Every Gadget On You: This is a must-have in other to avoid harassment by the authorities. They easily accuse an individual of theft when they can’t provide the receipt of the gadgets with them.
3. Fully Charged Phone, With At least Two Different Mobile Network: While traveling between states, this is essential so as to be able to communicate with your loved ones if anything happens, with those you left behind and those who you are going to meet. Photo Credit: Getty
