Tottenham Set To Sign Vinicius From Benfica On Loan

English Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur are reported to have reached an agreement with  Portuguese club Benfica over a season-long loan deal for Carlos Vinicius, with a clause of possibly buy him at the end of the season for £36m ($47m/€40m).

Jose Mourinho TottenhamThe 25-year-old will become Mourinho’s sixth summer signing and will possibly play as a back up centre-forward to Harry Kane.

After beating Chelsea on penalties to advance to the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup, Mourinho had stated that his club was in the market to purchase another striker.

“I am optimistic, but more than that the feeling that I like is that we are trying everything to do it.

“You succeed or you don’t succeed. It’s like a football match: you win or you don’t win but you give everything and try everything. The transfer market is the same.

“I like the feeling that my club is trying to do everything for us and for the team, that’s the most important thing for me.”

Vinicius scored 24 goals in 49 games across all competitions after moving to Benfica from Napoli in 2019.
