My Top Five MTV VMA Moments From Last Night

It may be called the Video Music Awards, but the real talking points of the VMAs are always the outlandish performances. Without the live aspect of the show, we would never have had Kanye’s infamous outburst, Miley Cyrus’s twerking and numerous other outlandish musical statements that have gone down in VMA history. So what were the top 5 moments that defined this year’s MTV VMAs?
1. The Flu Forcing Lorde Into A Dance Artist
Instead of singing, Lorde did an interpretive dance for the whole Homemade Dynamite song. Apparently, she had the flu and couldn’t sing. Everyone watching at the time didn’t know this though, so the general reaction was “WHAT The F**K IS LORDE DOING UP THERE?”

2. DJ Khaled Bringing Up His Son On-Stage With Him.
It seems that Asahd Tuck Khaled lives the bestest life any toddler could ever live. He pays his own bills, have his own chauffeur and reportedly even pays tax. Now he got special invites to the MTV VMAs, and even got to climb onstage. Talk about having shortened bucket lists daily! The 10-month-old even wore a suit that is more expensive than everything I’m putting on right now.
3. Ed Sheeran And Lil Uzi Vert Might Have Inadvertently Created The Best Ever Collaboration
Ed Sheeran’s performance of “Shape Of You” at the 2017 MTV VMAs was cut short by a special guest – Lil Uzi Vert. As the Philly rapper took the stage, Sheeran greeted him with a cover of his smash hit “XO Tour Llif3,” which both artists performed backed by a full band.

4. Taylor Swift’s Manager Jack Antonoff Took A Banana Snack While Katy Perry Was Boring Everyone
Jack Antonoff conveniently had a banana on hand to casually snack on during host Katy Perry’s opening monologue at the VMAs. People definitely noticed and couldn’t help but think that Antonoff was low-key shading Katy Perry (aka the arch-nemesis of his frequent collaborator, Taylor Swift). Of course, maybe the guy just got goddamn hungry and needed a sensible snack break! Who knows!
5. Paris Jackson Gets Politically Brave
Paris Jackson’s moment on the MTV Video Music Awards stage was huge. The model and actress issued a strong message in response to the violence that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia, earlier this month. Before announcing the winner for the Best Pop Video at the ceremony on Sunday night, Jackson mocked President Donald Trump by turning some of his favorite catchphrases against him. She then addressed the “Nazi white supremacist jerks” watching at home in a fiery, seemingly impromptu speech.
