Tonto Dikeh’s International Award Is Illegal And Has Nothing To Do With UN

Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has again been faced with ridicule and disappointment as the United Nations took its hands off her ambassadorial award and appointment, describing it as illegal.
Recall that Tonto Dikeh had taken to her Instagram page to share pictures from her most recent appointment, after the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission denied appointing her as its  Peace Ambassador.“I was just honored as a UNITED NATIONS NOBLE INTERNATIONAL AMBASSADOR for the United Nations RESCUE SERVICES”, she wrote as she announced the recent honorary appointment on Thursday, sharing pictures on her Instagram page.

Reacting and debunking the report, the Director of United Nations Information Centre for Nigeria, Ronald Kayanja reportedly told BBC in a statement that the appointment has nothing to do with the United Nations. According to him, there are many organisations in Nigeria that attach itself to the United Nations and operate in its name illegally. He further noted that no organisation has the rights to give awards in the name of the United nations.
“Dis na wetin I wan follow up wit di authorities in Nigeria, we get many organisations wey go just put United Nations for everything. Dis no get anything at all to do wit di United Nations. A number of civil society organisations around di world get way to participate for UN meetings of di Economic Social Council (ECOSOC) but e no mean say dem be members of di United Nations.”
