Tinubu Arrives National Assembly For 2024 Budget Presentation


President Bola Tinubu has arrived at the National Assembly complex to present the 2024 budget.

The President was sighted at the complex at exactly 11:04 am on Wednesday amid tight security.

Recall that the Federal Executive Council, FEC on Monday approved the 2024 Appropriation Bill of N27.5tn.

In other news, President Bola Tinubu has transmitted an executive communication to the Senate, indicating his intention to present the 2024 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly tomorrow, Wednesday, November 29, by 11 am.


President Tinubu’s letter of intent was read by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio at the plenary on Tuesday, November 28.

KOKO TV NG reported that Monday’s Federal Executive Council meeting approved the N27.5 trillion 2024 Appropriation Bill.

Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Atiku Bagudu explained that the budget was shored up from N26 trillion to N27.5 trillion due to foreign exchange rate changes.

As required by the Constitution, Tinubu is expected to present the 2024 appropriation bill before the National Assembly.


In other news, An Appeal Court sitting in Lagos State on Tuesday, dismissed the petition filed by Tonye-Cole of the All Progressives Congress, APC, against Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Tonye-Cole wanted the Appeal Court to direct the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to declare him the winner of the March governorship election.

He had told the court that Fubara was still signing documents as Accountant-General of the State even after his nomination as the governorship candidate of the PDP.

He also alleged irregularities in the election, among other issues.

The Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal had in October dismissed the petition, saying that the APC that sponsored Tonye-Cole had withdrawn the petition against Fubara’s victory.

Tonye-Cole, who was not satisfied with the Tribunal’s judgment, approached the appellate court.
