The Sharia court in Kano has ordered the remand of Murja Kunya, the popular TikToker, in prison for allegedly committing offenses contrary to Islamic teachings.
The skit maker was said to have been apprehended by the Kano state police command on Saturday while preparing for her much-anticipated birthday party.
Kunya was arraigned on Thursday on two-count charges bordering on threatening to attack some people and releasing inciting videos that go contrary to the norms and teachings of Islam.
The TikToker, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges that were presented against her.
Abdullahi Halliru, the presiding judge, adjourned the case to February 16, 2023, for the continuation of the trial.

The judge also ordered that Kunya be remanded in a correctional facility.
Yasir Musa, the skit maker’s counsel, had prayed the court to send her to Hisbah custody or the police instead of the correctional centre.
Musa’s prayer was, however, rejected by Lamido Abba Soron Dinki, the council to the defendants.
