Arguably Nigeria’s most successful modelling export to the world, Oluchi is not short of admirers both old and young in the fashion industry. But while the old can easily still remember a tall, young-faced Oluchi winning the Face Of Africa modelling competition in 1998 with her confident runway stride, her younger followers were either too busy daydreaming about the next episode of Scrap Palace or were even way too young to have any interest in a TV screen. Others were yet unborn.Oluchi struggled with body image as a teenager. She always struggled with being underweight, but things took a turn when she was encouraged to try out for the “Nokia Face of Africa” competition where she went home with the prize of $150,000 three year modeling contract with Elite Model Management. Oluchi moved to New York and her career skyrocketed. She worked with famous photographers and has walked runways in Paris, Milan, and New York. She quickly rose to supermodel status, and in 2002 she became a member of the elite Victoria’s Secret angels. In 2005 she married Italian Fashion designer Luca Orlandi and began a four year stint in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. She has since used her success to open a modeling agency in Africa to pay it forward for the next generation of aspiring African models. Oluchi is estimated to have a net worth of $2.5 million. She has amassed her net worth through her modeling work, as well as her modeling agency and hosting gig on Africa’s Next Top Model.
