Throwback Thursday: 5 Nigerian Celebrities That Have Died In 2018

The Nigerian entertainment scene has had to bid some of its celebrities farewells this year and today, we will be shedding light on some of the entertainers we have lost in 2018.
Bambino Anachina

The Nollywood actor and producer passed on June 16, 2018. His death was confirmed by his colleague and friend Fidelis Duker. Duker took to Facebook writing; ”He was among the few people I spent time with on Thursday, 14th at the Zafaa Global Awards media unveiling before my car was burgled and my laptop amongst other valuable carted away. He was just so engaging and entertaining that afternoon.“I was with my wife and when I told her Chukwudi Bambino Anachina died today. She screamed, no.“He wasn’t looking sick. Bambino was a very committed and devoted actor, production manager and highly enterprising creative entrepreneur. Humble, respectful and hardworking. “I will never forget his role at all the wake keeps/night of tributes organised for departed colleagues. “Chukwudi was a very instrumental participant who ran the events and showed so much passion to give a befitting respect to those departed colleagues. Now Nollywood will mourn you. Sad and painful exit because you didn’t show any sign you will leave so soon.”
Ras Kimono

Legendary Reggae artiste Ras Kimono died on June 10 of a heart attack. His death brought out massive online and offline tribute and outpour of love. A report following his death revealed that the singer slumped at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, while he was waiting to board a flight to the United States. He was rushed to a hospital in Ikeja before he was transferred to another on the island where he died. Artiste African Chyna, while commenting on his death said;  “Nigeria has just lost a great icon. He was not supposed to die so soon. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”
Aisha Abimbola

This Nollywood actress was a force to reckon with in the industry. The actress who was best known as Omoge Campus died on May 16th, 2018, after a protracted battle with Cancer. Her estranged husband Ibrahim Okunola speaking on her death said; “I gave her the nickname, Magic Aisha because she had a way of achieving her dreams and goals. She was someone that would give you her shoulder to lean on and her listening ears no matter what you are going through. Even when she was not in my house again, if I had any issue in life, I always called her.”
Alizee

The singer who was born Ali Zainab was murdered by her Danish husband Peter Nielsen. Alizee according to the deceased’s sister was shot dead by her husband after an argument. The singer was killed alongside her child Petra Nielsen on April 5th at their Ocean Parade, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos. Her management commenting on the sad news said; “Its really a shocking and sad development. We all woke up to the sad news of her death this morning and to find out that the homicide was committed by her husband makes it all the more sad. The Police has been brought in to the case and we’ll share more details as we get them.”
Tosyn Bucknor
OAP, singer and songwriter Tosyn Bucknor is the latest celebrity the nation has lost. Tosyn, who worked as a host on Top Radio, was found dead n her home on Monday Novemebr 19th, 2018. Her sister Funke Bucknor, revealed the very energetic Tosyn passed form sickle cell complications. Funke wrote on IG: ‘My heart is heavy, but in all things we give thanks to God. My darling sister and besto Tosyn passed away last night due to complications from sickle cell. Love you.’
