This Is What Jose Mourinho Has To Say On VAR Controversies At World Cup

Jose Mourinho says every team now has lots of pretending on the field since the VAR was introduced at World Cup.

The 55-year-old Portuguese football manager describes the VAR controversies as “exaggeration on theatre by Players” while analyzing England’s last eight victory over Colombia for Russia Today. “I was surprised to see central defenders like (England’s) Harry Maguire, who normally is a very honest guy, diving in the attacking box and asking the referee for VAR.”

The 2018 World Cup is the first major international football tournament to use the VAR – a video technology to aid in refereeing decisions on-field. Mourinho continued: “The negative thing for me was I think there is exaggeration on theatre by the players. Every team has lots of diving, lots of pretending and lots of putting pressure on the referee.

“The game loses quality,” he adds. “For me, that was the negative point.”
