The federal government has announced the reopening of the Third mainland bridge after it was closed on the 26th of February,2020 to finish up ongoing repairs. The Minister for Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola {SAN} today announced that the bridge will be fully reopened for use today the 27th of February,2020 by 12 noon.

The minister made the announcement to the public today via his official Twitter handle and appreciated Lagosians for their support and cooperation during the ongoing repairs.

Recall that the state government announced the closure of the bridge on Thursday. The Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde made this known in a statement. He stated that the 24-hour closure would enable the contractors to move the equipment used during the rehabilitation process off the bridge completely to allow both the Oworonshoki and Adeniji bound lanes to open fully to traffic. He explained that the closure was necessary having completed the replacement of the 12 expansion joints and demobilize the superstructure of the bridge.
