Third Mainland Bridge, 17 Other Roads To Be Shut Down For Buhari’s Campaign Rally

Lagos State Government has announced that 18 roads across the state will be shut down on Saturday 9th February, for President Muhammadu Buhari’s Mega Rally Campaign at Teslim Balogun National Stadium.

The Former Minister of State for Defence and Chairman, Transport Committee on Buhari’s campaign visit to Lagos State, Demola Seriki, during a news conference yesterday at the State House, Alausa confirmed that the shutdown will last 8hours from 10am to 6pm.

The affected roads are: Funsho Williams Avenue / Surulere, Lawanson/Itire /Tejuosho road, Apapa/Costain road, Abebe Village, Eric Moore road, Eko Bridge/Apongbon Marina road, Ikorodu road, Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Old Toll Gate/Third Mainland Bridge/Obalende, Airport road, Oshodi-Oworonshoki Expressway, Agege Motor road, Jibowu, Yaba/Muritala Mohammed Way, Iddo/Otto, Herbert Macaulay Way, Adekunle and Ijora Olopa

According to Seriki, Alaka/Stadium (by Lanre Shittu Motors) will be closed and vehicular movement will be diverted to the stadium bridge on the main carriage way. Traffic from Shitta and Stadium inwards will be diverted to Adeniran Ogunsanya Street or Akerele Extension. Barracks to Stadium on Funsho Williams Avenue will also be closed and traffic diverted to Stadium Bridge on the main carriage way to Alaka.

He advised commuters on the various axis and roads to ply, and pleaded for understanding from members of the public for the inconveniences. He also urged them to receive the President on his arrival. “We plead for understanding of the situation by members of the public, and we urge to come to the venue to receive President Muhammadu Buhari to our dear state,” he said.
