It’s another weekend and as always, we bring you some of the hottest songs from underground artistes that you should add to your playlist.
This week we feature Chu-Chu, Kevwe, Creen Caesar and other Nigerian artistes steadily pushing their craft. Check the playlist out:
1. DolapoTheVibe feat. Barry Jhay – Tension
While the intro of the song is quite shaky, the Afro-pop song is beautiful. Off her Unanticipated EP, it is a thrilling song. And with Barry Jhay’s vocals, the deal is done.
2. Deshinor – Pemi
What makes this song such a huge vibe is the delivery. From the beginning, Deshinor seems aware of what he has to offer and he goes about it with strict precision. A beautiful song about his commitment to his woman through thick and thin.
3. Creen Caesar – Everything
While at the beginning, you’re likely to think it’s a High Life genre, you’re proved wrong when he starts rapping. Produced by First Earl, the pop instrumental song is a cty out for recognition. The message becomes clear with this line, “to be in the lips of people whoze never heard the EP 1.”
4. Tolani – No Yawa
While for this writer, Tolani has the best pure Afrobeats project in Nigeria this year, this song proves the talent that he is. If you’re looking to be addicted to a jam, this should be your go-to song.
From the instrumental, to the production to the lyrics and delivery, you just have to applaud the work out in here.Read more:Â Weekend Playlist: 10 Songs For The Trendy Gen Z
5. Sir Dauda feat. Simi – Woman
The artiste who is Bahd Guys Record first signee released the song off his recent EP, Love Ex Machina. A ‘jungle folk’ song that discusses his love and everything he has to offer to his partner.
6. Ayanfe – African Vibe
Ayanfe might almost need no introduction in the music scene. With a title like that, you should know that you’re bound to move your body. “Oh, this is the African way/You see that your waist/Cannot go to waste.”
7. Zarion Uti feat. Buju – Rain Or Shine
The Afro-fusion song is basically a “I’ll be with you through the hard times.” Can we take a moment to applaud Buju for never failing or features?
8. Kevwe – Cool
This might just be the writer’s best song this week. The Afro-swing song basically conveys the emotions and truth that we all feel when we meet someone we are interested in. It is the sort of chill ‘in my feelings’ song. You want a chill weekend? This is your song.
9. Chu-Chu feat. WANI – Electra
10. Ajebo Hustlers – Barawo
In support of the #EndSARS protest and end to police brutality, this song comes in handy. Have an exciting weekend.
