The Battle Continues: Labour Party Sues INEC Over Exclusion From Fact Finding Meeting In Rivers

INEC to commence Voter's Registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) set up a fact-finding committee which it sent to Rivers State to investigate the election irregularities experienced there. The commission however excluded Labour party from the committee, and reacting to this, the party sued the commission. In the suit filed before a  Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday marked FHC/AB/306/2019, the Labour Party and its governorship candidate in the March 9 governorship and house of assembly elections, Isaac Wonwu, demanded that the court weighs in on the issue. Wonwu and his party are currently seeking to know if the commission was right in excluding them from the team. They are currently seeking the abrupt halt of the electoral body’s activities with resumption and declaration of the results until the issue is resolved. INEC has slated Wednesday, March 20, 2019, for the announcement of the result of the March 9 elections held in Rivers state. Photo Credit: Getty
