TBT: Throwback To The Scariest Childhood Story Of All-Time, ‘Madam Koin Koin’

Madam Koin Koin is the oldest childhood monster in the history of Nigeria. The sound of her shoe brought fear to every child that ever heard her story as it’s assumed that anyone who sees her face will never live to tell the tale. For old times sake, lets take a time out to remember the invincible Madam Koin Koin.

She is a superstitious boarding school story in Nigeria about a blood sucking woman who roamed boarding dormitories in search of a child to kill. At one point or the other, every Nigerian child have heard the tale of her dreadful acts. I remember when my boarding school friends will give several instances of events about her in their school which made me feel she is as real as our skin. We bluntly objected to every persuasion by our parents that we should give boarding school a try. We would say things like “Madam Koin Koin will kill me if i go”. The tap sound of any high heel shoe was enough to propel some of us into a high-speed marathon race. Good old memories!
