The Christmas holidays was the favourite time of the year for almost every Nigerian child many years ago due to the epic firecracker war we used to wage against each other.
It used to be a season where we would empty our entire “Kolo” savings, to buy the perfect ammunition for a battle we will never forget till the day we leave this earth.
From the audaciously courageous boys that will hold the firecracker in their hand till it blew to our delight, to the big-money kids that bought the most expensive firecrackers that usually flew high into the sky before releasing an array of colours to our joy.
The most exciting part of those days was the annual street firecracker fight that involved kids from (Street A) throwing their best firecrackers into (Street B) while street B also threw theirs into street A till one street ran out of firecrackers to the joy of the other street.
These were the greatest moment in the days of every child born in the 90’s. While the wee-lads in your vicinity light up the area with firecrackers, Just reminisce on those legendary battle you won with your comrades or lost with your friends. These moments can never be relieved again.
