TBT: 6 Reality TV Shows We Miss And Want Back

Nigeria is no stranger to reality TV shows, as they have been a major part of the broadcast medium content. The beautiful thing about reality shows is that they are often unscripted and anything can happen at any time.

Reality TV ShowsThere are a number of reality TV shows that have graced our screens and somehow just sank into oblivion. For throwback today, we decided to bring back some of the reality shows that miss and would want back.

1. Gulder Ultimate SearchThe show which was in a sense one of the most loved reality show to grace Nigerian TV screen was designed to test the physical and mental fitness of the contestants. A king among other reality TV shows.

It ran for twelve seasons and was hosted by actor, Chidi Mokeme, before it sadly left our screens.

However, recent news has said that the show is coming back for a new season.  See video below;

2. Project Fame West AfricaProject Fame West Africa reality TV showIf you do not know Project Fame, the musical talent show sponsored by telecommunications giant, MTN, then you were probably born around 2018.

The show kept families glued to their TV screen, especially on Saturdays and Sundays, which was when the performances happened.

It was hosted by Joseph Benjamin and Bolanle Olukanni. See video below;

3. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

If you didn’t hug yourself, grab something and hold to your chest, or even scream while this programme was on, then it’s safe to say you were most certainly watching something else.

The show which was hosted by Frank Edoho was a test of knowledge and aimed to see how brilliant people could be by answering questions, which would earn them millions of naira. See video below;

4. Maltina Dance AllYou think you can dance? Or your family can? This reality TV show catered to those set of people. It was hot and Nigerians couldn’t just get enough of this.

Families had to learn and showcase different dance steps, while audience members voted for their favourite family to keep them in the house. See video below;

5. Amstel Malta Box Office

Do you know Nollywood big names like OC Ukeje, Ivie Okujaye, and Bayray McNwizu? They all passed through this show before they became the big shot they are today.

The like some other reality TV shows focused on grooming actors and actresses for the big screen. We definitely want this show back. See video below;

6. Peak Talent ShowYes, this show produced Kids Kudz, the beautiful rapper we are all enjoying today. It definitely deserves a comeback.

There is a retinue of reality TV shows that have certainly brought premium entertainment to the Nigerian audience.
