TBT: 5 Hilarious Things We Did While In School

Primary and secondary school was fun; the years when a good number of your financial responsibilities fell to your parents and guardians. It was a time when we were still learning to gather little details about life.

Throwback Thursday- school life

We didn’t have all the answers and we knew so. We therefore tried to make do of the ones we were given. Truth be told, we did a lot of funny stuffs and that is what this article aims to point out. The hilarious things we did that were cool then but laughable now.

1. Lovely Date:

When we got new exercise books, we most times refused to write the actual date as asked on the book cover. The dates we chose ranges from ‘Lovely Date’ to ‘Beautiful Date’ and all that. Some even went as far as writing ‘,Heaven has no date’. Really?

2. Wrapping books with newspapers and calendars:

I couldn’t find a picture online for this but I’m quite sure you already know what I’m talking about. We believed that books wrapped with old newspapers and calendars looked more beautiful and alluring. For the newspapers, most of us usually went for the advert pages; they were more attractive.

3. Name in pen:

If you didn’t want to lose your pen, then this was your best bet. The truth however was that even this truck could not save your pen from those who were determined to be the rightful owners.

4. New term begins:

If you didn’t do this in school, I am sorry to say, you definitely had a boring childhood. Some persons looked eagerly to every new term when they could write this in their books.

5. TM shirts:

Again I couldn’t find any picture for this. TM school shirts however had the back in a U shape usually longer than the front. If you had this shirt then or your tailor made one for you, there was no way you were going to tuck in. You had to let everyone know you had it, because only big boys and girls had the mind to flout the school rule and wear them.

Now, that I think of it; why were we hell bent in wearing them anyway? A laughable experience.

Things with the introduction of certain ideas into schooling have changed and some of these things are now seen as normal or bland. The good old days of our time.
