Taylor Swift Sued For Allegedly Stealing ‘Shake It Off’ Lyrics

Pop singer, Taylor Swift has been slammed with a lawsuit by famous songwriters who alleged that the singer stole the lyrics of ‘Shake if Off’ from them. According to NME, songwriters Sean Hall and Nathan Butler, who wrote the hit song ‘Playas Gon’ Play’ for the girls group 3LW in 2001, said that Swift stole 20 percent of their song for her 2014 anthem.In the document they filed, the claimed that there are apparent similarities between the lyrics of ‘Playas Gon’ Play’ and Swift’s song. Their lyrics include lines that say, “Playas, they gonna play/ And haters, they gonna hate/ Ballers, they gonna ball/ Shot callers, they gonna call.” While Swift’s says, “Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play/ And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate / Baby, I’m just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake I shake it off, I shake it off.”The songwriters are reportedly asking for a hefty settlement and Taylor Swift on the other hand has yet to speak up personally since the news surfaced.
