Hold Talks with Bandits – Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle Begs FG

The Zamfara state governor Bello Matawalle has appealed to the Federal government to hold talks with bandits in order to end banditry and other forms of criminal activity in the North.

MatawalleThe governor made the appeal when he received a delegation from the Federal Government, led by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami. The delegation was in the state over the fire incident at the Tudun Wada Market, Gusau. Punch reports that Matawalle said all conflicts that have an ethnic dimension can best be resolved through dialogue.

He claimed dialogue was a practical choice that should be taken, given the fact that it was previously done in the Niger Delta to attain peace. He also addressed the fire incident and told the delegation about the traders’ losses. He added: “As believers in God, we see the unfortunate incident as a test.”
