Take £90m Plus Gareth Bale And Give Us Paul Pogba – Real Madrid Begs Man Utd

Real Madrid are to offer Gareth Bale plus £90million to Manchester United in an attempt to land Paul Pogba, according to reports from Spain.

Pogba was on Real’s radar throughout last summer, with the midfielder describing a potential move to the Bernabeu as “a dream”.

But Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane was unable to land his man, with United sticking firm to their price tag of £180m. Zidane needs to improve his squad throughout, and it seems certain he will try again for Pogba – as long as he remains Real boss.

Meanwhile, Gareth Bale looked set for a move away from Madrid all summer, with Zidane having made it clear the Wales ace was not in plans. He was set to join Chinese side Jiangsu Suning for free on a three-year contract – earning £1million-a-week – but Real aborted the deal as they wanted a transfer fee. Bale, who turned 30 in July, has since been reintroduced into Real’s side and has made six La Liga appearances, scoring two goals. Bale has been left out of Champions League games, and is believed to be more determined than ever to leave United. But club officials have told him to see out the season before reviewing his future in the summer. Now it seems Real will try to solve both problems at once, with Spanish publication Eldesmarque reporting that they will offer Bale plus £90m to United in return for Pogba.

United have so far been determined to hold onto Pogba, but his contract expires in the summer of 2021, so they may be tempted to cash in next summer if the price is right. If Bale joins United he would link up with his Wales team-mate Daniel James, whose performances since signing from Swansea for £12m in the summer have been highlights for the Red Devils.
